Back in February, we met up with a couple of new friends, Meg and Jake! Meg is a wedding photographer based in Austin, Texas. We met at Joshua Tree for a fun and windy trade-off photoshoot! We had so much fun exploring the park and experimenting all that Joshua Tree as to offer! Here are some of the moments we capture during our photoshoot. If you’ve heard of Joshua Tree, then you must know it’s a popular destination for elopements and engagement shoots! We’ve spent quite a bit of time exploring the park, scouting spots for future elopements and engagement photoshoots, and oh. my. gosh. it never disappoints. There’s a reason so many people are drawn to this beautiful national park! In addition to the Joshua trees that grow only in the Mojave desert, you’ll also be surrounded by other-worldly landscapes, towering rock formations, and beautiful hiking trails that wind through the park. Joshua Tree has a lot to offer to everyone who visits!
How To Get to Joshua Tree
We arrived in Joshua Tree around 3pm, perfect timing to shoot a few locations before the sun set. And OHHH was sunset worth the 3 hour drive from Orange County! Getting to Joshua Tree is easy from Downtown LA, and should only take around 2 hours if you leave at the right time.
The setting sun casted the most beautiful golden light over the warm rocks, and gave us the chance to play around with lighting! The intense wind also gave us another element to play around with in our photos, and rather than allowing the wind to discourage us, we used it for our benefit! For this photoshoot we used our Sony A7iii’s with the Sigma 35mm lens and the Sony 85mm 1.8 lens. Links to all of the gear we used for this shoot below!
